Great Start to School:

 

We have had a great start to the school year at International.  Our 6th graders are getting comfortable opening their lockers, having 7 different classes, and making new friends.  Our high school students learned about cultural and political aspects of Africa during the high school retreat, as well as had a great time bonding with each other.  Teachers are creating engaging lessons that are getting students involved in learning on a daily basis.  I have observed engaging literature discussions of the summer reading; I have seen 7th grade science students make solar observations; and music students learn new instruments.  You can be confident, that your students are learning, having fun, making friends, and becoming better citizens of the world.

 

Today, many of the students will have an opportunity to watch President Obama’s speech to students.  I watched the speech and President Obama encourages students to set high goals for themselves, and to take initiative to achieve these goals.  It is a message that we teach here at the International School, and something that we can reinforce with our students throughout the year.
