This course prepares students for the writing and research tasks encountered in college course work. Students will read, analyze, and synthesize complex literary works and non-fiction prose to formulate their own academic arguments. Academic writing, a course focus, includes writing for discovery, summarizing information, taking notes, analyzing and presenting original analysis and ideas.
Students integrate information literacy skills for a variety of purposes to inform this content area. Lessons are developed in collaboration with Library Media Specialists, curriculum developers and classroom teachers. They are of two types - those taught by Library Media Specialists and those taught in collaboration with the classroom teacher.
