     This performance-based Academy class will integrate two performing
art disciplines, Dance and Choir, to train the all-round music
theater performer. Students will study advanced dance and singing
techniques and will learn music and dance history while exploring
the fundamental elements of Jazz, Modern, Swing, Hip Hop, and
Classical dance and music styles. Students will work on solo and
ensemble music theater numbers from many styles and eras of
musical theater and develop their vocal technique and dance form.
This course will enhance skills and concepts in sight-reading, ear
training, correct breathing, vocal projection, choreography,
movement technique, physical fitness, and kinesthetic awareness
while developing a greater understanding of theater vocabulary,
etiquette, and performance skills. Students will develop and
appreciate the relationship between dance style and music structure
and will demonstrate analytical skills through arts observation and
critiquing. An Academy of Visual and Performing Arts Class.
