Course Description:
This semester-long, hands-on, project-oriented class is a basic introduction to the history and use of technology in our society. It will incorporate an understanding of materials, where materials come from, how materials are processed and used to make the inventions and innovations that have a direct impact on our lives and the world around us. A number of technology challenges will be assigned that will be solved individually and in cooperative groups. Students will solve these problems while using hand and power equipment in a safe and proper manner while developing attitudes and habits necessary for working effectively in this environment. Participation and completion in the Applied Technology class will prepare students to be actively involved in our ever-changing society. Successful completion in Applied Technology is a prerequisite to enroll in higher-level Technology courses.
