746 H ENVIRONMENTAL HORTICULTURE
Length/Credit 2 semesters - two periods - 2.0 CTE credits
Prerequisite 11th, 12th grade standing - Horticultural Science or permission of instructor

Students continue their study of horticulture and the green industry through extensive in-depth industry related experiences. Students will maintain and operate state-of-the-art greenhouses as they extend their knowledge of the horticulture industry, plant production and sales through the student run floral store. Extensive horticultural field trips, use of community resources, contact with industry professionals, and area community colleges and universities and community projects are included. Throughout the school year. Through internship experiences and hands-on learning, students will gain entry-level job skills and possible opportunities for summer work. Students will be prepared for further study in Environmental Science, Urban Forestry, Ecology, Horticulture, and Landscape Architecture.
