Music is an essential course of study in a well-rounded education.  While some students will study music in college, our goal is that all Bellevue students will become knowledgeable consumers of music throughout their lifetime.

Our K-12 music program centers on the three processes of creating, responding to, and performing in the Arts.  Students develop skills in movement, singing and playing instruments at the elementary level.  In fifth grade, students begin their performance studies as a band or orchestra member.  At the middle school level, they choose from band, orchestra or choir electives.  In high school, students continue to delve into more complex literature in the major performing ensembles of band, orchestra and choir. They will meet the state mandated Benchmark III.  Beginning and advanced piano, guitar, and AP Music theory are also offered.

Odle hosts the Academy of Performing Arts and Sammamish High School offers the School of Performing Arts : Music.  At Sammamish, students may study courses offered at the other high schools, plus a concentrated area of music study. Bellevue enjoys the reputation of having outstanding performing ensembles, as well as being a leader in innovative curriculum and music technology.
