This course is for 8th grade students only.  There are three components in this course.  Gifted Composition and Literature, Gifted Foundations of World History, and Gifted Philosophy.

In the Composition and Literature component students will develop analytical reading, academic writing, critical thinking and presentation skills.  Course content includes myth, autobiography, short story, poetry, drama, and novel.  Students will extend their understanding of literary elements and explore themes of self-discovery and personal challenge through multicultural literture. 

The Gifted Philosophy course will examine central philosophical problems including ethics, theories of knowledge, the nature of reality, philosophy of religion, and political philosophy.

Gifted Foundations of World History covers the Foundations unit of AP World History.  This component develops a greater understanding of the evolution of global processes and contacts with different societies.  This component emphasizes the reading, writing, and analytical skills necessary for success in Gifted AP World History.
