163 Q HONORS ADVANCED-LEVEL

HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR

Length/Credit: 1 year - 1.0 credit

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Concert Choir or Chorale.

Permission from the instructor or audition is required.

Other Info: Fulfills the state (Benchmark III) and district high school Fine Arts requirement. It may be repeated for credit. Students may repeat this course. Students may travel in and out of state to attend festivals and competitions. Students from this class are eligible to participate in the Eastshore Solo and Ensemble festivals and audition for state honor groups. 10th-12th grade students in this ensemble would be eligible for honors credit. See Honors: Music description.

Location: Bellevue, Newport, Interlake, International, Newport and Sammamish

Students will perform works from different eras and genres. They will learn skills such as adapting and changing tone color,vibrato and diction to fit varying styles. Students will study specific eras in music history and continue to develop music theory and reading skills. The overarching goal of this ensemble is to creat vocalists who have enough skills that they can operate free of teacher instruction in small ensemble settings.
