This course is production-oriented and is designed for students who enjoy working with hands and with technical equipment related to stage and theatre. Students will learn how to research and design scenery to build sets. They will operate light and sound systems in the Sammamish Performing Arts Center and will rotate through all areas of working a show from sound and lighting design to ‘house management’. Two or three weeks of afternoon and evening work are required in addition to class attendance. Students will concentrate on the major areas of theater technology, production, and performance. Behind-the-scenes stage experience and leadership skills will be gained through the production of 2 - 3 shows during the year.
