Location Bellevue, Interlake, Newport, Robinswood, Sammamish

This laboratory science course will provide needed underpinnings in physics and chemistry to prepare students for the WASL at the end of 10th grade and will also prepare students for a subsequent course in physics or chemistry as 11th graders. It is specifically designed to meet the needs of students whose mathematics background isinsufficient for enrollment in physics or chemistry as 10th graders. A semester will be spent on topics in physics including waves, kinematics, force and energy, and application of physics to earth systems. A semester will offer topics in chemistry including atomic structure, the Periodic Table reactions and solution chemistry. Application of mathematics to these science topics will be a considerable focus, including, dimensional analysis, scientific notation and general problem-solving skills.
