745 H HORTICULTURAL SCIENCE

This class is an introduction to the exciting green industry in the field of horticulture. Through classroom instruction, hands-on experiences and study of northwest plants, students will learn to propagate and take care of plants in the arboretum and the green-houses. Students gain leadership skills through work on individual and group projects. Course content can include Bonsai, pruning, landscape design, plant identification and hydroponics. The business aspect of horticulture will be explored by planning, staffing and publicizing a plant sale typical of the industry.
