| This course is
designed to increase Japanese speaking skills, understanding of Japanese
sentence constructions, and skills in reading and writing. Casual spoken
Japanese will be introduced at this level. This is in contrast with the
polite Japanese taught in Japanese 1. Students will be able to discuss
using past and present forms. At this level, classes will gradually be
conducted more fully in Japanese, at least 90% of the time. Cultural
studies will continue and be extended from Japanese 1. Opportunities for
cultural exchange and for study abroad in Japan will be made available.
