The 9th Grade Core Physical Education course provides a foundation for students to develop and improve skills in order to participate successfully in a variety of activities. The course is a balance of team and individual activities that students are likely to participate in beyond high school. Team sports include basketball, soccer, slow pitch softball and volleyball. Individual sports include badminton, bowling, golf and tennis. Students are expected to improve their level of skill and knowledge, as well as understand and implement more advanced strategies for each sport. A dance unit is also included. A major focus is the Personal Fitness unit where students acquire knowledge about the components of fitness, learn about the benefits of exercise and participate in fitness activities. All students participate in the Presidential Fitness test twice during the year.
