This course covers global world history from approximately 600 C.E. to the present. Students learn and analyze the impact of interactions among societies (trade, systems of international exchange, war, and diplomacy); the impact of technology and demography on people and the environment; systems of social and gender structure; cultural and intellectual developments; and changes in functions and structures of states and in attitudes toward states and political identities, including the emergence of the nation-state.

Students integrate information literacy skills for a variety of purposes to inform this content area. Lessons are developed in collaboration with Library Media Specialists, curriculum developers and classroom teachers. They are of two types - those taught by Library Media Specialists and those taught in collaboration with the classroom teacher.
