Fourth grade is divided into 3 Units that introduce the first formal study of Washington State.  

In Unit 1 students will:

• Understand how the geography of Washington State impacts where and how people live within the 5 major regions of Washington
• Understand how Early Northwest Coast People lived

In Unit 2 students will:

• Learn what drew settlers to the Northwest, how did they get here, and how did they respond to the challenges of a new land

In Unit 3 students will: 

• Examine artifacts and primary sources helps them understand and describe changes occuring in Washington during early statehood
• Develop and research questions to create a research report on a topic of interest of Washington State
